Trail Angels

These are volunteers who can help arrange your trip, locate outfitters and gear, provide fact-finding and directions, haul your boat and gear, help you over portages and innumerable other services, and save you from miserable experiences. Depending on the situation, they may ask to be reimbursed for costs such as gas and other expenses incurred helping you. They are not on call, but are arranged by prior agreement as volunteer service providers for the Alabama Scenic River Trail.


Andy Baril lives south of Childersburg, just off lay lake. He will help you with information on both Lay and Mitchell lakes. Here is his contact information:

Autauga Creek (Prattville)

Jamey David was instrumental in clearing the logs which once blocked Autauga Creek Canoe Trail.  He works at the local outfitter, and is willing to answer questions and help find the camping areas, good food, and creek access points.  Prattville Paddlesports also provides shuttle service for a fee. Bobby Wright, resident at milemarker 166 on the Alabama River at White Oak Creek. 334 872 8575. This gentleman and volunteer has offered to help paddlers in any way he can.

Delta Region
